Medicare Insurance

Medicare Can Be Complicated. You Don’t Have to Navigate It Alone.

Medicare offers choices—and those choices can affect your doctors, prescriptions, costs, and coverage.

Full-Line Insurance helps you understand your Medicare options, compare available coverage, and make informed decisions based on your individual needs.

Medicare Coverage Options
Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage, also known as Part C, is an alternative way to receive your Medicare benefits through a Medicare-approved private insurance plan.

Many plans include prescription drug coverage and may offer additional benefits such as dental, vision, and hearing coverage. Plans can differ in networks, costs, benefits, and coverage rules.

Medicare Supplement insurance
Medicare Supplement Insurance, commonly called Medigap, can help pay certain out-of-pocket costs associated with Original Medicare, including deductibles and coinsurance.

Medigap works alongside Original Medicare and does not include prescription drug coverage in policies sold after 2005.

Prescription Drug Plans
Medicare Part D helps cover prescription drug costs. If you have Original Medicare, you can generally add a separate Part D prescription drug plan.
When comparing plans, it’s important to look at the medications you take, the pharmacies you use, premiums, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket costs.

Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement?

Medicare offers different ways to receive and supplement your coverage. Two common approaches are Medicare Advantage and Original Medicare with Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap).

Neither approach is the same for everyone. Your choice may depend on how you prefer to manage your healthcare, your doctors and hospitals, prescription medications, anticipated healthcare needs, and how you want to approach your healthcare costs.

Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage (Part C) is an alternative way to receive your Medicare Part A and Part B benefits through a Medicare-approved private health plan. Most Medicare Advantage plans include Part D prescription drug coverage.

Depending on the plan, you may have:

  • A defined network of doctors and hospitals
  • Copayments or coinsurance for covered services
  • An annual out-of-pocket limit for covered Medicare services
  • Prescription drug coverage
  • Additional benefits, such as certain dental, vision, or hearing benefits
  • Plan-specific requirements, such as referrals or prior authorization

Plan benefits, costs, provider networks, and coverage rules vary by plan.

Original Medicare + Medicare Supplement
With Original Medicare, you receive your Part A and Part B benefits directly through Medicare. You can generally see any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare.

A Medicare Supplement Insurance policy, also called Medigap, can help pay certain costs that Original Medicare doesn’t pay, such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance.

With this approach, you may also choose a separate Part D prescription drug plan for prescription coverage.

Medigap policies are standardized by plan letter in most states, although premiums and availability can vary.

Which Approach Fits Your Needs?

The important question isn’t simply which type of coverage is “better.” It’s which approach fits your individual circumstances and preferences.

Doctors & Hospitals
Do you want the flexibility to generally see any provider that accepts Medicare, or are you comfortable using a plan’s provider network?

Costs
How do premiums, deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket limits compare with the way you prefer to manage healthcare expenses?

Prescription Coverage
How are your current medications covered, and what pharmacies do you prefer to use?

Additional Benefits
Are benefits such as dental, vision, hearing, or other supplemental benefits important to you?

Healthcare Preferences
How do you prefer to access specialists and manage approvals for certain services?

Travel
Does your healthcare coverage need to accommodate travel outside your local area or outside the United States?
